Robert Ivo Carrico, age 88, of 1040 Cissellville Rd., Springfield, died at 5 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012 at his residence.
Born May 17, 1924, he was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest Albertus and Mary Ella Smith Carrico; his wife, Margaret Regina Osbourne Carrico, March 11, 2012; a son, Edward Osbourne Carrico, May 4, 1999; a daughter, Martha Sue Carrico Bomar, July 31, 2008; and three brothers, James (Jake), Maurice and Russell Carrico.
He was a farmer, a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and a U.S. Army combat veteran of WW II.
He is survived by a son, Larry (Cathy) Carrico of Springfield; five daughters, Brenda (Garland) Elkins of Brodhead, Noey (Tommy) Howard of Richmond, Carolyn Hatton of Lexington, Debbie (Butch) Smith of Louisa and Paula (Don) Merritt of Spotsylvania, Va.; three brothers, Jimmy, Emanuel and Leo Carrico, all of Springfield; four sisters, Isabelle Begley and Louise Cambron, both of Springfield and Helen Smith and Ruedell Fowler, both of Louisville; 22 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. (today) Wednesday, Aug. 22 at St. Rose Catholic Church with Rev. Kevin McGrath, O.P. officiating.Ê Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Pat Elkins, Shane Howard, Jess Hatton, Adam Smith and Will, Travis, Bryan and Zach Carrico. All other grandchildren were honorary pallbearers.
Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
