Roy Allen Durr, 79, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017.  He was born Dec. 29, 1937, in Mercer County, Kentucky, to the late Hansford Allen and Ella Ray Williams Durr.
He graduated from Willisburg High School in 1957.  He retired as a truck driver with Rainbow Bread Co. in Lexington. He then finished out his career as the owner/operator of Durr Asphalt, where he served Lawrenceburg and the surrounding communities for over 40 years.
Roy is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 59 years Betty Lou Colvin Durr; along with his four children, Roger A. (Carolyn) Durr of Lawrenceburg, Jennifer M. (Bill) Durr-Young of Frankfort, John C. Durr of Lawrenceburg and Melissa J. Durr of Lexington; two grandchildren, Brian A. Durr (Nathan) of Lawrenceburg and John Michael (Amanda) Durr; a great grandson, John Mason Durr; three siblings, Bobby (Linda) Durr of Lawrenceburg, Blondella (Tommy) Kidwell of Springfield and Rozella Ritchey of Lawrenceburg and many other loving nieces, nephews and family relatives.
He was a member of Anderson Christian Church.  A unique soul, he was loved by everyone.  He will be greatly missed.
Funeral service was held Monday, Dec. 4, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Brandon Dulaney and Junior Basham officiating.  Burial followed in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery. 
Serving as pallbearers were Rodney Durr, Jordan Wallen, Kenny Kincaid, Josh Durr, Brad Durr and Jamie Judd.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Baptist Health Lexington Oncology Services, Baptist Health Foundation Lexington, 1740 Nicholasville Rd., Suite 104, Lexington, KY 40503-9974.
