Sandra Gail Christerson Higginbotham, 65, of Ashley Ave., Springfield, died at 2:10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 21, 2017, at Signature Colonial Health & Rehab Center in Bardstown.
Born March 8, 1952, in Lebanon, she was preceded in death by her mother, Alberta Jones Christerson and a brother, Mark Christerson.
She was a music and drama teacher at St. Joseph Elementary School in Bardstown for several years, was a graduate of Campbellsville University with bachelor's and master's degrees in music, English and history. She had also attended Bellarmine University, was a former member of Springfield Woman's Club, a consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics, had taught music in her own studio, "No Monkey Business" and was an avid lover of genealogy. She also enjoyed R.V. camping trips with her husband Larry. She was a member of Springfield Christian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Higginbotham; a son, Brad (Kim) Higginbotham of Hickory, North Carolina; a daughter, Shannon Pokrandt of Pensacola, Florida; her father, Kelly Christerson of Springfield and five grandchildren. Nine nieces and nephews, 16 great-nieces and nephews and one great great-niece also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, at Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home in Springfield with Rev. Jesse Burns, pastor of Springfield Christian Church officiating.  Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Christerson, Todd Osbourne, Lee Russell, David Issacs, Timothy Basbagill, Derek Russell, Lupe Gaona, Cameron Mason and Steve Wheatley.
Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
