Sandra Hodgen Moore, 70, of Jimtown Road, Springfield, Kentucky, passed away surrounded by her family and friends at 8:48 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018, at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on Jan. 14, 1948, in Lebanon, Kentucky, to Bobby and Juanita Hourigan Hodgen.
She was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church, a 1966 graduate of Springfield High School and a graduate of the University of Louisville. Sandra had perfect attendance while attending her first 12 years of school. She was a retired schoolteacher with the Marion County School System and a homemaker.
Those preceding her in death were a daughter, Melanie Moore Wise, three grandchildren, Madeline Sandra Wise, David Curtis Wise II and Charlotte Ann Wise who all passed away on April 25, 2007, and two sisters, Allyson Hodgen on July 27, 1988, and Margaret Bess Hodgen on July 27, 1964.
Survivors include her husband, William M. "Billy" Moore; three daughters, Jennifer Martin (Kevin) of Nashville, Kim O'Daniel (Dennis) and Melissa Russell (Kris) of Lebanon; 10 grandchildren, Kevin Martin (Luisiana), William and Matthew Martin, Jeffrey Ray, Bradley, Matthew and Grant O'Daniel and Allyson, Elizabeth and Kristopher Russell; two great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Ray and Carter O'Daniel; her parents, Bobby and Juanita Hodgen of Springfield and a brother, Robert Hodgen (Sherri) of Springfield.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Sept. 10, at Springfield Baptist Church with Rev. Aaron Sherrell, the church pastor, officiating.
Burial was in the Ryder Cemetery in Lebanon.
Serving as pallbearers were Kevin, William and Matthew Martin, Jeffrey Ray, Bradley, Matthew and Grant O'Daniel and Robert Thomas Hodgen.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Springfield Baptist Church children's wing.
