Virginia Hughes Coulter, age 91, of Willisburg, passed away at 11:10 p.m., Thursday, July 19, 2012 at the Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.
A native of Washington County, she was born on Oct. 13, 1920 to the late William and Venie Cole Hughes.
She was a member of the Willisburg Christian Church, a graduate of Willisburg High School and a homemaker.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Vernon Coulter on Aug. 20, 1999; a daughter, Susan Coulter Ritchie on Jan. 19, 1978; a brother, Charles R. Hughes on Jan. 6, 2006; and two sisters, Mary Jo Coulter on July 21, 2007 and Ruth Cornell Hale on Aug. 28, 1981.
Survivors include three sons, Vernon Carroll (Betsy) Coulter of Louisville, Philip A. (Shirley) Coulter of Willisburg and Ronald L. (Marhsa) Coulter of Naples, Fla.; six grandchildren, Carrie Nelson, Kelly (Blake) Shouse, Amanda (Morgan) Harmon, Laura (Robert) Schmidt, Matthew (Diena) Coulter and Tracy (Bud) Owen; 11 great-grandchildren, Heather and Spencer Shouse, Noah Harmon, Miranda and Samantha Nelson, Faith and Lydia Owen, Jacob and Joshua Schmidt, Hallie and Leah Coulter; a sister, Eugenia 'Bug' Hatchett of Glasgow and David (Donna) Ritchie.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, July 24 at Carey & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Greg Bowen, minister of the Willisburg Christian Church, officiating. He was assisted by Bro. Joe Hatchett and Bro. Bud Owen.
Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg.
Serving as pallbearers were David Ritchie, Blair Hale, Mark Hale, Douglas Hatchett, George Douglas Ruggles and Ted Gillis.
Carey & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
