William Hubert "Bill" Russell Jr., 71, of Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018, after a courageous battle against cancer.
A Washington County native, he enjoyed farming, was a Vietnam veteran of the US Marine Corps and retired from IBM after 34 years of service. He then pursued his passion for University of Kentucky sports by working for the UK athletic program.
His wife, Jane Douglas Russell and his parents Hubert and Catherine Russell preceded him in death.
Survivors include three sisters, Juanita (Nick) McWhorter of Lexington, Edith (David) Cottrell of Danville and Joyce (John) Wharton of Springfield, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held June 4, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home in Lexington with Rev. Clay Stevens, pastor of Springfield Presbyterian Church presiding.
Pallbearers were his faithful friends Tobe Yankey, Bruce Reynolds, Dan Dusch, Jerry Ray, Tom Hunt and Dave Smith.
