Wilma Dell Goode Grigsby, 75, died Nov. 12, 2017, at Ephraim McDowell Hospital in Danville, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.  A native of Washington County, she was born Sept. 12, 1942, to the late Charlie P. and Evelyn Taylor Goode.
She attended Texas School and after graduation from Springfield High School, married Earl Vernon Grigsby on June 24, 1960, the beginning of a marriage that spanned 57 years.  Together, they raised four children, Karen (Joey) Purdom and Monica (Paul) Osborne of Washington County, Keith (Terri) Grigsby of Wilmore and Marsha (Perry) Edelen of Danville.  She was immensely proud of her 10 grandchildren, Casey, Zachary and Quincy Purdom, Erica, Steven and Matthew Osborne, Michelle Lee and Nick, Daniel and Lucas Edelen.  She dearly loved all 12 of her great grandchildren, Kennedy, Grant, Vincent, Hartley, Madison, Sophia, Wyatt, Riley, James, Evelyn, Paul Allen and Violet.
She is also survived by her sister, Brenda Carpenter of Springfield, Charles Edward "Buck" (Cindy) Goode of Boyle County, and a large extended family.
Wilma was a dedicated servant and leader in Washington County, having served the county in the sheriff's office, county clerk's office and later as Washington Circuit Clerk.  She served in many volunteer and civic roles over the years, perhaps none so dear to her heart as the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life for which she served as team captain for over 10 years and tirelessly helped raise over $ 75,000 for cancer research.
She was a lifelong and faithful member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where she served the Lord wherever she was needed and where no potluck meal will be the same without her wonderful country cooking.  She was a quiet lady in many respects, but her actions spoke loudly of her deep and trusting faith.  She will be greatly missed by her church family.
Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017, at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Bro. Kyle Yankey officiating.  Burial was in the church cemetery.  Her grandchildren served as pallbearers.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Relay for Life of Washington County or Bethlehem Baptist Church Building Fund.
Arrangements were entrusted to Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home.
