James William "Jack" Hodgens, 75, of Lincoln Park Road, Springfield, passed away at 5:05 p.m., Saturday, July 12, 2014, at the Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville.
He was born on Oct. 21, 1938, in Nelson County to the late James and Lula Bell Thompson Hodgens.
He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and a retired employee of Barber Cabinet Company where he worked for 33 years.
Preceding him in death was a son, James Gable Hodgens on Dec. 20, 2006; a brother, Frank Hodgens and five sisters, Mary Belle Trigg, Margaret King, Lucille Linton, Charlotte Weathers and Georgia Lewis.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth "Tippy" Wright Hodgens; two daughters, Glenda Hodgens Jones of Lexington and Pam Brashear (Ronald) of Elizabethtown; four sons, Steve Hodgens of Springfield, Timmy Hodgens (Genesia Sallee) of Campbellsville, Terry Hodgens (Amanda) of Springfield and Tony Hodgens (Beth) of Springfield; sixteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren and three sisters, Teresa Ann Elery (Raymond) of Lebanon, Rose Marie Lewis (Roy) of Bardstown and Sarah Moore (Wayne) of Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 17 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Rev. Ben Brown and Deacon Gus Cooper, officiating.
Burial will be in the St. Dominic-Holy Rosary Cemetery.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Wright, Billy Wakefield, Joe Hodgens and Paul Spalding.
Casket bearers will be Douglas Elery, Christopher Elery, Brandon Hodgens, Charles Wright, Michael Weathers and Tommy Lewis.
A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday evening by Deacon Gus Cooper at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 until 9 Wednesday at the Carey & Son Funeral Home.
Carey and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
