Jack Arthur Bishop, age 81, of Mockingbird Drive, Springfield, passed away at 9:25 p.m., Monday, May 6, 2013 at the V.A. Medical Center in Lexington.
A native of Nicholas County, he was born on April 21, 1932 to the late Carl Wyatt and Sophia Arthur Bishop.
He was a member of the Willisburg Christian Church, an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a retired employee of Rockwell International in Winchester, Ky.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Edna Gayle Clifford Bishop on Oct. 14, 2006; a son, James Arthur Bishop on Dec. 19, 1965; and a brother, Frank Bishop on April 4, 2005.
Survivors include his two daughters, Teresa Lee Bowles and her husband, Joe of Gallatin, Tenn. and Carol Ann Carney and her husband, Larry of Springfield; two grandsons, Robert Joshua Bowles and his wife, Becky of Gallatin, Tenn. and Stephen Vaughn Carney of Springfield; and two great-grandchildren, Jonah Bowles and Kiyah Bowles.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, May 9 at Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Cal Adams, pastor of the Temple Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg where military rites were conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Serving as pallbearers were Darnell White, David White, Gerald Bishop, Harold Grigsby, Brad Redmon and Alan Haydon.
Carey & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
