Thomas Jerry Pope, age 64, of Versailles, formerly of Washington County, passed away at 10:53 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 at his home.
He was born in Danville, Ky. on Dec. 10, 1949 to the late Charles Bruce and Nancy Elizabeth Tharp Pope. He was a former employee of the Owens-Illinois Company of Bardstown. Preceding him in death was a son, Thomas Anthony Pope on Dec. 21, 1970 and a sister, Patricia Ann Pope on Feb. 6, 1947.
Survivors include, two daughters, Jeri Lynn King (Rodney, Jr.), of Versailles and Jessica Lea Renfroe (Garth), of San Antonio, Texas; a grandson, Logan Anthony King; his former wife and friend, Alicia Higdon Matthews, of Versailles; his brother, Bosley Pope (Joyce), of Bardstown and two nephews, Micky Pope and Marty Pope (Lisa) both of Bardstown.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan, 8 at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Justin Compton, pastor of the Springfield Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial was in the Bethlehem Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Micky Pope, Marty Pope, Mike Lawson, Larry Higdon, Bob Higdon, Paul Higdon and Bobby Burton.
Carey & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
