DIRK JONGKIND Obituary

DIRK JONGKIND February 16, 1914 - June 26, 2013 The day we have anticipated is here. Dad's dying brings sadness for the fact he is no longer here in body, and joy for release for him, in assurance he is truly at peace in God's presence, in a way only he knows. The next few days will no doubt be filled with many emotions, tears, laughter, remembering and a lot of concern for mom. In the midst of the sorrow and grief, everyone will also celebrate the amazing life he had and the person he was. Survived by his beloved wife, Rie Jongkind (nee Kreeft). Beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather of: Nenke and Robert 't Hoen Jake and Marion: Derek and Danielle - Jacob and Alora, Jason and Lori - Curtis and Ian, Carrie and Mike Agar - Cassidy, Quintin and Alexis, Ernie and Adriana, Martin and Lianne: Brandon, Bethany and Apryl, Sarina and Phill Steward: Brent, Naomi, Paige and Mikel, Adam and Judy: Amy and Chad Bertrand, Michael, Scott and Marisa: Sonja and Nicolette, Judy and Alan Bennink:, Krista and Heather. Donations in recognition of a life well lived may be forwarded to: The Lighthouse, 1008 Bathurst St., Toronto, ON, M5R 3G7 or Holland Christian Homes, 7900 MCLaughlin Road South, Brampton, ON L6Y 5A7. We celebrate his life Saturday, June 29th. Anyone wishing to remember Dirk Jongkind, he was a longtime (39 years) member of Taunton Road Church, later of Bethel Church in Newmarket and more recently of CrossRoads and Heritage CRC congregations in Brampton. This year we celebrate 60 years in Canada and next month Mom and Dad would have been married 69 years. Wherever he lived, Dad was a servant, taking care of many, many people, welcoming refugees from many countries, Vietnamese Boat People, watering plants at Holland Christian Homes and leading the sing-along or planning some of the social events. Dad was born on February 16, 1914 in Meerkerk, Zuid-Holland and died on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 in Faith Manor. 99 years is a long time to serve God. We are grateful we could enjoy his presence in our lives and celebrated his 99th birthday this past February. We will miss him. Care entrusted to the Ward Funeral Home (905-451-2124).
