ADA BRUCE Obituary

ADA EMMA BRUCE (KIRTLEY) Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at Eastholme in Powassan, Ontario on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at the age of 90. Born on October 14, 1922, mom was the daughter of the late Lillian (Trixie) Vina Janes and William Thomas Kirtley. Mom was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Warren George Sr., on October 6, 2003. Mom will be missed but never forgotten by children Warren George Bruce Jr., Port Elgin, Ontario, Bonnie Lee Allen (Gary), Newmarket, Ontario, James/Toben (Judy) Bruce, Markham/Corbeil, Ontario. Mom had 6 grandchildren: Andrea, Michael, Sean, Tricia, Lindsay and Graeme and 8 wonderful great-grandchildren and 11 nieces, nephews and Sandra, mother of Andrea and Michael. Predeceased by her sister Ellen (Carmen Stapely), brothers Harold (Eleanor), George (Emma), Marty (daughter-in-law and wife of Warren George Jr.) and niece Ann Bezener (wife of Neil and daughter of Harold and Eleanor). Mom always had a special place in her heart for her niece Elda Pirie (Ron), Stony Lake, Ontario and longtime friends Ruth (Paul, deceased) Guimond of Mapleridge, BC, formerly of North Bay Ontario. Mom and Dad chose North Bay as home, after Dad's military assignment. While residing in North Bay, mom was employed as a medical secretary for Drs. Wall/Jackson/Rivet for many years. She also applied her talents at Fraser Brace, H.E. Brown, Empire Hotel, Wallace & Carr and Byron Building Supplies. Mom was the Past President of the Ontario Medical Secretary Association and Scollard Hall Ladies Guild. Mom and Dad left North Bay in the mid 70s to be closer to us and the grandchildren in Toronto. In Toronto, Mom worked for Petro Partners and finally Drs. Griever/Jaskolka until she retired at the young age of 80. This allowed mom more time for bowling and playing cards which she really enjoyed and travelling to new places with family and friends. The family would like to thank Monsignor Clement, Dr. Ng and the wonderful/caring staff at Eastholme for her exceptional care and compassion over the last three years. You are simply "THE BEST". As per Mom's wishes, there will be no visitation or services. Cremation has taken place and private family service will be held at a later date at the All Saints Mausoleum in North Bay. Funeral arrangements entrusted to MCGuinty Funeral Home. Memorial donations for Ada can be made to Eastholme Long Term Care Facility would be greatly appreciated by the family. Online donations can be made www.mcguintyfuneralhome.com
