KORN, JULIAN
JULIAN KORN July 6, 1975 - March 26, 2015 A beloved father, husband, son, brother and friend: Julian Korn, originally of Nepean, ON, now residing in Woodbridge, ON, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 26, 2015, age 39. Julian is the devoted husband of Andrea (Tropea) Korn of Woodbridge, ON. In the 10 wonderful years Julian and Andrea spent together, they had three beautiful children: Andrew and Alyssa (age five) and Alex (age three). Their fourth child is expected in July. Julian is the son of Henry Korn (Joanne) of Toronto, ON and Janet Snowling of Ottawa, ON. His siblings are Alison Korn (Charles Thomas), Hilary Saari (Henry) and Anthony Korn. Andrea's parents are Silvana and Frank Tropea and her brother is Steve (Sonya) of Woodbridge. Friends from far and wide, work colleagues from Prophix Software, hockey teammates and family members share in their grief for this gentle giant. At six-foot-seven, Julian towered above everyone but always in the most kindhearted way. A graduate of Bell High School and Waterloo University (Mathematics), Julian had a successful career in software sales and consulting. Julian loved scouring the internet for a good deal and was quick to advise anyone willing to listen on his calculations for money-making and money-saving opportunities. Always interested in finances, he chose to begin working at a young age, timekeeping for Nepean Minor Hockey and even recruited his younger brother Anthony to his payroll. Many earnings were spent on their vast hockey card collection, which carpeted nearly every surface of the basement. Hockey was his sport passion and Julian played vigorously in several recreational leagues, terrifying opponents with his size but never throwing a hit. His teammates appreciated his extraordinarily long reach, as he was able to pick off passes in a huge radius. Julian had just finished assistant coaching his son Andrew's first year of hockey with the Vaughan Rangers and was looking forward to many more. A diehard Leafs fan, he recently was heard to acknowledge, albeit reluctantly, that their season might be a write-off. Julian was adored by Andrea's large and loving extended family, who have always been tremendously supportive of them. He spent many happy hours playing with his kids skating, swimming and baking. Julian loved making the trip to Ottawa or the family cottage to visit his niece and nephews, siblings and mother. He enjoyed cards and games of chance and he and his father have fond memories of their occasional wins at the horse races (which always seemed bigger in the re-telling), but sadly they and cousin Ron were not able to fulfill their dream of investing in a horse of their own together. It has been confirmed that Julian died of a heart attack. Visitation will be at the Glendale Funeral Home (1810 Albion Road, Toronto, ON) on Sunday, March 29th from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held Monday, March 30th at 1:00 p.m. at the same location. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to a trust for the education of the children. For information, please contact KornEducations@gmail.com
