Beatty, Barbara
BEATTY, Barbara Joan (nee Washington) — Barbara passed away peacefully Monday, July 20, 2015 at the age of 86 with family by her side. She will be forever missed by sons Stewart, Cameron, Andrew and daughter Susan, their spouses Joanne, Cindy, Liz and Barry and much loved grandchildren Nathan, Jocelyn, Sara, Scott, Mackenzie and Kevin, sister-in-law and best friend Marilyn, niece and nephews Kathy, Mark and Peter and their families. Predeceased by her beloved brother Laurence Edwin Washington. Barb grew up in Long Branch. Always a voracious reader with an incredible thirst for knowledge, her passion for the written word took her to places and people she would never visit and kept her up to date with politics and current affairs. She was broad minded and loved a good discussion on any topic. While raising a family in Clarkson she worked in accounting and found time for gardening, sewing, the Oakville Stitchery Guild, sports, travel and lots of happy trips to the cottage. Family, friends and sorority sisters were an important part of Barb's life and she had great memories of time spent with them. Although COPD slowed Barb down physically in her later years, it did not impede her love of life or her optimism, her glass was always full. Quietly leading by example, she leaves a legacy of inner strength, joy and generosity of spirit. She will be truly missed. To honour Barb, a celebration of her life is being planned for a later date.
