Aline (MacIver) POTTER

POTTER, Aline (nee MACIver) - In loving memory of Aline Potter who passed away at the age of 92 on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Scarborough General Hospital after a long and full life. Aline was raised in Upper Coll, Isle of Lewis, Scotland and served as a WREN officer (Women's Royal Navy), when she met her Royal Canadian Air Force future husband Ford. They married November 10, 1944 and settled in Canada in 1945 (Ford passed in 1975). Aline was a founding and active member of Armour Heights Presbyterian Church; a fundraiser for Canadian Cancer Research, served as a volunteer at Toronto General Hospital for 25 years and Meals on Wheels. Aline will be sadly missed by her daughter Gail, son David (Sandy), grandchildren Nicky (Sam), David (Stephanie), Chris (Jane) and Jessica and great- grandchildren Ben, Emma and James. All will miss the many shared times and inspiring advice from this grand Scottish lady, who gave her family and children much ancestral history, family discipline and parental guidance. Our family stand in admiration of and gratitude for Gail's tireless devotion to our mother. Extended families in Scotland, Detroit, Nova Scotia, New Jersey and beyond will miss her friendly hospitality on their occasional stop-overs in her Toronto home where they were always welcomed. To the Reverend William Middleton, the Reverend Carol Loudon and members of the church community at Armour Heights, Ina Grafton Gage Home and her family and friends who visited her and comforted her in her later years, we extend our heartfelt thanks. Friends will be received at the Trull Funeral Home (2704 Yonge Street, 416-488-1101) on Sunday, November 18, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. There will be a private interment. A service celebrating the life of Aline will be held at Armour Heights Presbyterian Church (105 Wilson Avenue, Toronto) on Friday, November 23, 2012 at 2 p.m. A reception will follow.
