ANASTASIA TASIA PHAKOS (FAKOS) (nee TSITOURAS) After spending a wonderful Christmas with her family, it is with much sadness to announce the peaceful passing of Anastasia Phakos, on January 12, 2013, of old age in her 93rd year. Born in Doris, Greece in 1920, Anastasia is the dearly beloved wife of the late Ioannis Phakos. Loving mother of Vassiliki, Dean, Maria and Evagelia. Cherished Gramma of Peter, Alexandra, Anastasia, Bill, Demosthenis, Penelope, John, Christos, Poppy, Stella, Steve John, Anastasia, Iphigenia, John Dean and her 10 great-grandchildren. Anastasia was a strong, feisty and caring woman. She was the backbone of our home. She cooked wonderful meals, nursed us when we were sick, tended our broken bones or hearts, endured through wars, destruction and catastrophes, raised us through tough times ensuring we had everything and loved us. Anastasia had a wonderful family and friends who played a great role in her long life and she will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Friends and family will be received at HERITAGE FUNERAL CENTRE, 50 OVERLEA BLVD. (416-423-1000) on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 from 5-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2013.
