BERNADETTE COLLINS, R.N. After a brave and courageous 3-year battle with cancer, passed away peacefully at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital at 73 years of age. Beloved wife of Lorne Collins. Loving mother of Kevin (Tara), Troy (Ann), Joanne (Blair Bailey) and Jeff. Cherished grandmother and "mompa" to Alisha, Nicole, Kyle, Shawna, Kailee, Shaelynn, Michael, Emma, Emerson and Holden. Dear sister of Jane Jackson (George) and Bruce MCCarthy (Janet). Bernadette was born in Markdale, Ontario, attended nursing school in Kitchener and lived in Toronto, Maple and Burlington. A registered nurse for over 40 years, she will be remembered by her many nursing friends as an energetic and dedicated nurse who truly loved her vocation. Bernadette was also a member of the Red Hat Society and volunteered at the Burlington Wellness Centre. Family would like to thank Dr. Francois Moens and Dr. Hal Hirte and staff at the Juravinski Cancer Centre in Hamilton as well as Dr. Cathy Thompson in Burlington for their excellent care. Bernadette asked that donations be made in lieu of flowers to the Juravinski Cancer Centre in Hamilton. Visitation at the DODSWORTH & BROWN FUNERAL HOME, BURLINGTON CHAPEL, 2241 New Street (at Drury Lane), Burlington on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Funeral Prayers will be offered at 3:00 p.m. Private interment Burlington Memorial Gardens.
