DOUGLAS ROBERTSON COUTTS Douglas Robertson Coutts passed away on March 11, 2014. He was 88 years old and a Veteran of WWII. Doug was born in Toronto to Dr. Roy Coutts and Minnie (Barry) Coutts in November of 1925 on Woodlawn Avenue. He attended Brown School before entering the University of Toronto Schools as a young adult and eventually graduated from U of T in Engineering Physics. Soon after his graduation he began his employment at IBM where he worked successfully for 25 years, creating the first computer system for the Toronto Stock Exchange. He was an avid squash player and golfer, a Silver Master's Bridge player, historian and beloved husband of his wife Virginia for 34 years. He is survived by his two sisters Dorothy Maden and Cathy McVicar, his wife Virginia, his first wife Mary Ellen Aitchison, his sons Jamie and Rob, his daughters Victoria and Jennifer as well as his grandchildren Kate, Jessie, Robert and Nora. A memorial service will be held in the spring to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, donations to Seaton House or the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be greatly appreciated.
