Frederick E. "Jeff" Jeffery

FREDERICK E. 'JEFF' JEFFERY DFC, BCom (1924 - 2010) 86 years well lived Jeff passed away peacefully at North York General Hospital after a brief illness. He will be greatly missed by his devoted wife, Elaine (nee Twilley), who was the love of his life and best friend for 60 years. Jeff was the beloved father of daughter, Margot, and sons Bill and Lawrence and cherished grandfather of Katherine Jeffery of Bologna, Italy. Jeff is survived by his sister, Mary Lou Florian, his brother, Michael Jeffery and their families. Jeff was born in Vancouver, BC. He proudly served his country in WWII as a Pilot with the RCAF on 432 (Leaside) Squadron, 6 Group, Bomber Command. (He joined the RCAF at age 18 and completed his Tour of Operations on Christmas Eve 1944 at age 20). During his life Jeff was very involved with the Boy Scouts and was Scout Leader in West Vancouver, Montreal and North York. Jeff was President and Director of the Halifax Aircraft Association for the past 16 years. The Association was responsible for the recovery of Halifax NA337 from Lake Mjosa in Norway and its restoration and exhibition at the National Air Force Museum of Canada in Trenton, Ontario. Jeff retired from his over 50 year career in the sales of packaging machinery in 2006 at the age of 82. He was Past-President of the Packaging Association of Canada and a Director of the Skyview Condominium for several years. He was also a member of The Queen's York Rangers; The Royal Canadian Military Institute; The Air Crew Association, Ontario Branch; The Air Force Association 408-437; Legion 165; and The Sovereign Order of St. John of Jerusalem, Knights Hospitaller. Jeff will be greatly missed by his many friends and colleagues. His family will receive friends at his Celebration of Life at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME -- A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) in Toronto at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 8. If desired, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Air Force Museum of Canada -- Building Fund, 'The home of Halifax NA337', Jeff's most beloved project.
