GEOFFREY MARTIN STEAD 72, of Bayou Park (Orillia), passed away peacefully, December 24, 2012 at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital in Orillia. He was born on Avon Street, Washington, County Durham, England on March 1, 1940, to Gladys and John Stead. He was loving husband of Patricia. He retired in 2009 from successfully operating Rumsey Brothers Construction for 30 years. Music was an important part of Geoff's life; he played many instruments, loved all genres and played in numerous bands over the years. His other passion was all-things automobile related. He was a pilot of fixed-winged planes. He was a proud and active member of the Washago Lions Club for many years. He is survived by his mother Gladys; his wife Patricia; his daughters Janet (Dan Herbert) and Leslie (Steve Crouchman); his brother Colin; his sister-in-law Susan Stead; cousins Chris Thornton (Bob) and Louise Stead (Geoff); cousin John Plender and second-cousin Maureen Young; loved in-laws Wayne Moreau, Wendy Ross (Mike) and Gerrie Moreau (Elida); his nieces Lisa Contois (Michael) and Wendy Stead (Michael Matijek); and nephews Greg, Michael (Sandra) and David; longtime friend Roy Klementti (Ev) and Zoe. A memorial celebration will be held in early May at the Washago Lions Hall, an announcement will be made at a later date. Tribute gifts to the Ontario SPCA - Orillia Branch may be made in lieu of flowers.
