ROSE, Gerald (Gerry) - Passed away on December 6, 2012 at the age of 94. Gerry had the great good fortune to marry a very special woman, Dorothy. Gerry and Dorothy were the proud parents of twin sons, Keith and Ken. Little did Gerry and Dorothy realize that this small beginning was following a tradition established by Gerry's mother, Bertha, and father. Harvey, whose five children established the "Rose clan". Gerry's contribution to the Rose clan blossomed with the marriages of Keith to Fran and Ken to Adrienne and the arrival of five grandchildren, Carrie, Cam, Sheila, Wendy and Karen. Family get- togethers were often noisy and never dull. To Gerry's great delight and occasional bemusement, he was then inducted into great- grandfatherhood. His smiles for Philippe (Carrie and JS) Rachel and Jessica (Sheila and Marc), Katie and Emma (Karen and Nick) and Fiona (Wendy and Brian) were a joy to behold. Sadly, he missed the opportunity to bestow one of these special smiles on Stella (Wendy and Brian). After losing Dorothy much too soon, Gerry met and married another wonderful woman, Peg, family Lea and Art. Throughout most of his life, Gerry was a proud member of the "Bell family". He participated in the transformation of telephone communications in Canada that began as multiple, isolated, small companies and emerged as a country-wide service. Throughout his career, he remained a humble man for whom the welfare of his colleagues and friends at work, at church, in Markham, London and Toronto always came first. He will be deeply missed by his sisters and their husbands, Jackie and Bill Guthrie, Marjorie and Gord Mitchell and remembered with great affection and respect by his sons, step-daughter, grand and great-grandchildren and all of the Rose clan who made the Rose family picnic the highlight of the summer. To celebrate Gerry's life, a special celebration will be held on Saturday, December 15th from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the MCLean House at the Estates of Sunnybrook, 2075 Bayview Avenue, Toronto, ON, M4N 3M5. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
