GRAHAM, Hugh Chandler - 1925-2012 Hugh Chandler Graham stared down pancreatic cancer for months, but succumbed at home the morning of November 28, 2012. The preceding time had been joyfully filled with family trips to Quebec, Collingwood and his beloved Argos. Hugh was born in 1925 in Musselburgh, Scotland, but his was among the first families to establish in Scarborough's Highland Creek. He trained and served with the 48th Highlanders in the last years of World War II
, and went on to help build Ontario Hydro's power plants from Niagara to Darlington. Not one to waste time, after retiring from Hydro he served as a court clerk, and then put a smile on the faces of many children as a clown. Hugh was also a past Master of the Masonic Delta Lodge 634, and sang for years with the Grimsby Knights of Harmony. Hugh will be missed by many, but by none more than his wife of 61 years Dorothy, and daughters Susan and June, by Sue's husband Lt. George Nutter and by their son Christopher (CJ) with Catherine. Hugh will be joining his brothers Bill and Art, and continues to be remembered by Bill's widow Pearl, easily his longest friend. His last years and months were made better by many health care professionals, from cardiologist Dr. Anup Gupta, to Dr. Fecyzc, through to Dr. Jennifer Arvanitis of Mount Sinai's Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care, to Danny Narain of Central CCAC and Jane MCCrae, his personal care giver. Hugh's life will be celebrated Saturday, December 1st, with visitation at noon and a service at 1 p.m. at the PINE HILLS CEMETERY AND VISITATION CENTRE, 625 Birchmount Rd., near St. Clair Ave. E., after which Hugh will be reunited with his parents at St. Margaret's-in-the-Pines Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish are invited to contribute to the Hugh C. Graham Legacy Tree Fund. The fund will support a new tree and bench in Scarborough's Colonel Danforth Park, a favourite place near Hugh's boyhood home.
