James Drummond GUTHRIE

GUTHRIE, James Drummond (Jim) - 1931-2012 Passed away at home Thursday, November 1, 2012 after recent health problems, surrounded by his loving family. Survived by his loving wife Nita of 55 years, his daughter and son-in-law, Fiona and Michael Lawson and his three wonderful grandchildren, James (Heather), Nicole and Taylor. Also survived by his sister June (Rollo) and brother- in-law Robert Greenhill (Joan) and many nephews, nieces and cousins here, in the UK and Australia. Predeceased by his father and mother, James and Martha Guthrie, his sisters Eleanor Guthrie and Rita (Greenhill). Jim was born in Ballingry, Scotland. Served 2 year National Service in the Black Watch and was proud to have talked on one occasion to the Colonial-in-Chief of the regiment, her majesty the Queen Mother. Jim immigrated to Canada in 1966 followed a few months later by Nita and their 2 year old daughter, Fiona. He worked for Valspar (Mobile) for over 20 years as Product Sales Manager, winning the "Elite" award twice for salesman of the year, retiring in 1995. Jim was a member of Seaton Golf Club, Pickering since 1968. Retirement allowed him lots of time to enjoy his golf as well as gardening and watching UK soccer matches. Cremation has taken place. Funeral Services will be on Thursday, November 8th at 1 p.m. at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, King City at 13190 Keele St., North of King Rd., followed by a reception in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of choice can be made. May the Lord bless you and keep you, may his light shine upon you and bring you peace. 'til we meet again.
