JAMES FRANCIS MACCARTHY Born September 17, 1935 Died November 30, 2012 After a lengthy illness, James died on Friday, November 30, 2012 in Toronto, at 77 years of age. Born in Tipperary, Ireland, James is predeceased by his parents Richard and Elizabeth and by his sister Mary. He is survived by his beloved wife Brigita, with whom he celebrated a 50th wedding anniversary in September 2012, his daughters Mary (Scott), Denise and Renée, eight brothers and sisters and many relatives in Canada, the USA, Ireland, Great Britain and Peru. He will be sadly missed by his family, his grandchildren Cameron, Jordan and Austin and his nephews and nieces. James supported his church for many years in the early 1980s was head of the Parish team that brought a family of refugees from Laos and a family from Vietnam to Canada. He served as the coordinator of lectors for almost 25 years and was the coordinator of the screening of volunteers for the first Parish volunteer program. Friends may call at Murray E. Newbigging Funeral Home, 733 Mt. Pleasant Road, Toronto from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Monday, December 3, 2012. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Monica's Catholic Church, 44 Broadway Avenue, Toronto, at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 4, 2012. Interment to follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.
