Jean Dawson

DAWSON, Jean - Jean Dawson of Goodwood, Ontario passed away at Bon Air Residence in Cannington on Monday, November 1, 2010. She was in her 99th year. She is survived by her daughter Penny, s on-in-law Steve, 2 granddaughters Emily and Ariane, cousins Barbara, Buck, Ruth, niece Marilyn and many more nieces and nephews. Jean was born in Goodwood on December 31, 1911 and spent the majority of her life there. She attended Goodwood Public School as a young girl and actively participated in activities of the Baptist Church throughout her youth and adult life. During World War II, she did practical nursing training and worked in Toronto. After her marriage to Robert (Bob) Dawson on June 8, 1946 they built a home and settled in Goodwood. She is predeceased by Bob, who died in a tragic automobile accident in 1974. She will be fondly remembered by many for her quick wit, her strong independent nature, her avid love of learning and armchair travel and her willingness to always help out a friend, relative or animal in need. Jean was always grateful for the many friends and neighbours who helped her to remain as independent as possible, in her own home, as she grew older. Family will receive friends at the O'Neill Funeral Home (6324 Main St. Stouffville, ON), 905-642-2855 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, November 12, 2010. A chapel service, conducted by the Reverend Andrew Brndjar on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at the Churchill Cemetery. If so desired, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
