John Dean SHAW

SHAW, John Dean - Born July 12, 1914, Ilford, Essex, London, England. Passed away February 22, 2013. Loving husband of Grace (deceased December 19, 1985) whom he married September 30, 1942 in Moose Jaw, S askatchewan. Survived by two sons, John and his wife Mary, Michael and his wife Jill, three grandchildren, Jeff and his wife Melissa, Kristy and her husband Brook, Tim and Elisabeth, two great-grandchildren Justice and Destiny. Served in the London Scottish Regiment early in WWII, joined the RAF and came to Canada to become a pilot where he met Grace, flew DC3's with Transport command, dropped paratroops over France on D Day. After the war he came to Canada in 1946, settled first in Toronto, then Oshawa and finally in Ottawa, working in the printing trade. Retired from the federal government, Queen's Printer as Production Manager in 1979. Moved back to Scarborough, lived at the Camargue where he ran the Seniors club for a number of years. He was a longtime member of the Zion Wexford United Church. A fiercely independent, true gentleman, great father, grandfather and great-grandfather, his sharp mind and wit will be missed by all who knew him. Private cremation. Family memorial service at a later date.
