Kwok Wing CHAN

CHAN, Kwok Wing - Passed away peacefully at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre on February 17, 2013 at the age of 76. He was born in Hong Kong to the late Chan Yiu Ming and Cheng Kit Kwan in 1937. He was a very giving individual with a life full of laughter who always brought others positive energy. He was a caring son, responsible brother, devoted husband, wonderful father, well-liked and respected friend, colleague and mentor. He will be forever missed by his wife - Edna, his sons - Eddie and Ronny, his daughters-in-law - Candy and Zipo and anyone that knew him. After he graduated from Queen Elizabeth School in Hong Kong, he started his career as Bank Clerk with the Hong Kong Standard Chartered Bank until 1965. Switching to the public sector, he retired as Senior Immigration Officer with the British Hong Kong Government in 1987. There, he was well known by his nickname as "Charter Chan". Upon his retirement, he immigrated to Toronto, Ontario with his family. He enjoyed his retirement with the upbringing of his two sons. His favourite activities were photography, cooking, gardening, playing mahjong on his computer and spending time with his family and friends. Visitation will be held at Highland Funeral Home, Markham Chapel (10 Cachet Woods Court, Markham, Ontario - 16th Ave./Hwy. 404, 905-887-8600) on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 5-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the same location on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 10 a.m. All gifts received will be donated to the Sunnybrook Foundation in memory of Kwok Wing.
