LUIS B. FRUTOS 72, died on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, on May 5, 2013 in Toronto from complications of diabetes. Luis believed that life should be lived to its fullest, and so he did! He loved his daughters and grandchildren and was passionate about music, poetry and math, Luis was an intellect and a lover of knowledge. Following the completion of engineering studies at the Universidad Autónoma Chapingo in Mexico and post-graduate studies in the UK and Canada, Luis dedicated his life to teaching in his beloved home country, Belize and in Canada. He felt it was his duty and responsibility to work toward the advancement and betterment of his country, and it was the driving force of his working life. He will be remembered for his generous heart, humble spirit and unwavering desire to make the world a better place. Luis is predeceased by his wife Maria Elena. He is survived by his daughters Claudia (Ranjan), Patricia (David) and Fatima; grandchildren Hope, Haley, Ryan, Katrina and Amelie; brothers and sisters Amira, Renato, Pastor, Urbelina, Amapola, Amir, Ramon, Edgar and Rosa; former spouse and friend Marjorie; as well as many other family members, friends and students who cared deeply for him. According to his wishes, Luis will be cremated, and a celebration of his life will be held in Belize on June 8, 2013.
