LYNWOOD T. LESTER Born August 24, 1918 to Harry and Lillian (nee Hayward) of Montreal. Lyn grew up in Cote St. Luc with sister Gwen (Griffith). He started in the textile industry at 22 years of age with Associated Textiles before being called to service as an Artillery Gunner through WWII. He proudly served his country with field commissions to 2nd Lieutenant, Royal Canadian Artillery. Lyn met his first wife Joan (nee Coles) 1921-1996 in London, England, married and returned to Canada following the war. Lyn returned to Associated Textiles with a promotion to Toronto in 1962. He co-founded his own textile company with Stan Brett until his retirement at age 64. He was fortunate to raise a daughter Layne Kirkpatrick (Paul) and granddaughter Sherry of Vancouver. He loved to golf as a member of St. Georges Golf and Country Club from 1972-1982. Lyn was predeceased by his first wife in 1996 and married his second wife Shirley Elliott (nee Fraser) with children Fraser (Teresa), Gregory and Cameron, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed his final days with care and comfort at West Park Long Term Care and the palliative care unit at William Osler (Etobicoke General).
