MARGARET MACLEAN July 8, 1928 - June 26, 2013 Died on June 26, 2013 at Christie Gardens, Toronto, at age 84. She was the daughter of the late Rev. Duncan and Barbara (Ray Aitchison) MacLean and the sister of Barbara (Rae) Yeates, Kathryn (Kae) Broughton, Merlyn Beeckmans and Oriole Anderson. She was predeceased by her brother James Duncan MacLean. Margaret held a BA and M.Div. from the University of Winnipeg. She later graduated from the Ontario College of Education. Her career included a two year stint as a Minister in Bowsman, MB, and teaching High School English in North York and Toronto, mainly at Bloor Street Collegiate Institute in Toronto. She was an intrepid traveller to such places as China, Russia, the Grand Canyon and many countries in Europe. Her interests were wide, including classic music, opera, art (painting, sculpture), film festivals, sports (particularly hiking and women's ice hockey), religion and Jane Austen. Above all, Margaret had a genius for making lifelong friends. Her openness and enthusiasm and joie de vivre drew people to her. She will be missed. A celebration of life will be held in September 2013, time and place to be announced.
