Minnie Martha SIMMONS

SIMMONS, Minnie Martha (nee Goldthorpe) - Beloved wife of the late Carleton Oscar. Peacefully on January 19, 2013 in her home at Leisureworld, Gravenhurst. Minnie was born in North Bay, Ontario in 1922 to Joseph and Annie Goldthorpe. She was the last surviving sibling of Hazel, Joseph, Isabel and George. Her children Louise (Jim), Jody, Jane (Walter), Chris (Barry) and Peter are left to mourn her. She was the much loved Grandma to Brett (Nadia) and Luke Thompson. Minnie lived her life with happiness, laughter and a caring nature. She loved and was dedicated to her children and husband who were the focus of her life. Minnie was a faithful member of St. James Anglican Church where she taught Sunday School for many years while Carl was Superintendent. During her years at Leisureworld, Minnie's kind and gracious nature and sense of humour brought her many friends. It was her wish to remain at her home there and during her last months the compassionate and professional staff on the second floor, with her primary physician, Dr. Todd, ensured that her difficult last days were comfortable. At Mother's request there is to be no funeral with interment at a later date. Arrangements are being made by Cavill-Turner Funeral Home in Gravenhurst.
