NANCY MURIEL MATTHEWS Passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at the age of 77 in Oakville, Ontario. Nancy leaves her devoted husband Bill with whom she shared a joyful and loving marriage of over 57 years. She is predeceased by her daughter Lesley Fisher of Burlington, Ontario, who died of multiple sclerosis in 2001. Nancy will be sadly missed by her daughter Linda and husband Scott Thornton, also from Burlington, for all her sage advice and long telephone chats. She is lovingly remembered by her son-in-law Blake Fisher, her sister-in-law Sylvia Skinner, her younger brother Donald Poynter and especially by her grandchildren William Fisher and Susan and Steven Thornton. The grandkids are all grown up now but will never forget the fun and laughs they shared with their "Nanny". Nancy took great pride in all of her children and grandchildren, supporting them in all of their ups and downs and relishing in their successes. As per her wishes, a cremation has already taken place. If you would like to pay tribute to Nancy's life, a contribution to Ian Anderson House would be greatly appreciated in lieu of flowers. Many thanks to all of the hospice staff as well as to the home care team whose expertise and kindness helped to make a difficult time more bearable. Arrangements entrusted to SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, BURLINGTON, 905-632-3333.
