Stephanie Leanne THORNTON

THORNTON, Stephanie Leanne (Marshall) - Born January 20, 1974 in Brantford, died February 22, 2014 at her home in Mississauga with her family by her side after courageously facing the ordeal of breast cancer. Daughter of Winston and the late Gloria Marshall. Wife of Benjamin, whom she met at the University of Western Ontario and who was lucky enough to share 15 wonderful years of marriage with her. Adoring mother of Christine and Dashiell, whom she proudly described as the most interesting people she had ever met. Daughter-in-law of Michael and Ann. Sister of Geofrey (Brenda) and sister-in-law of Matthew, Patrick (Maggie), Kathleen, Luke (Amber) and Michael (Katie). Aunt of Caroline, Alex, William and Marcus. She married into a huge extended clan and instantly became a part of the family and the life of every party - especially pool parties. Many will recall seeing her signature party trick of putting her fist in her mouth. Everyone who knew her will remember her huge capacity for fun. She was creative and loved to do crafts with the kids; her elaborate birthday cakes were famous. She was wickedly funny, smart, compassionate and, through the 2½ years she dealt with cancer, demonstrated a strength worth admiring. She was a longtime employee of RBC and proud to have achieved her career goal of winning a spot on a cruise for top performers. Visitation Thursday, February 27th at Le Treport, 1075 Queensway E., 6-10 p.m. Funeral Friday, February 28th at noon at Sts. Martha & Mary Church, 1870 Burnhamthorpe Rd. E. Stephanie's ashes will be buried at Glenwood Cemetery, Picton, next to Ben's mother. In lieu of flowers, donations for the care of her children may be made out to StephanieLegacy2014 or by email transfer to StephanieLegacy2014@gmail.com
