Walter ZACHARKO

ZACHARKO, Walter - It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing away of Walter Zacharko, in his 80th year on January 4, 2013 at the Villa Care Centre, Midland after a lengthy and courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. Keeping his spirit and hope alive are his heart, soul and love of over 56 years, his wife Olga Jean, his loving children Linda and Michael (Marvia); and his cherished grandchildren Jessica, Adam, Stephen and Nicole. Predeceased by his parents Stephen and Anastasia. Dear brother of Stephania, Elsa and Olga Ellen and the late Gloria, Vera and Victor. He will also be fondly remembered by brother-in-law Peter, sister-in-law Anne, many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the caring staff and volunteers at the Villa Care Centre and to Dr. Anne Gannon. Visitation will be held at the Nicholls Funeral Home Cremation Centre, 330 Midland Ave., Midland on Friday, January 11th from 7-9 p.m. The Panachyda (Prayer Service) will be held in the Nicholls Funeral Home chapel on Saturday, January 12th at 9 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 10 a.m. at Sts. Volodymyr and Olha Ukrainian Catholic Church, Perkinsfield (5 Brook Ave., "Cawaja Beach" vicinity). Cremation will follow. A graveside service will be held in Toronto at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Walter to the Huronia Seniors Volunteer Care Team, Midland, ON. (a.k.a. Wheels 4 Wheels, c/o Villa Care Centre, 669 Yonge St., Midland, ON L4R 221) or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
