MONA LINDSAY (nee BEST) Mona passed away peacefully at Beechwood Court on August 1, 2012. She was the beloved wife of the late Harold (Chuck) Lindsay for over sixty years and the loving mother of Lynda (Brian) and proud nana of David, Matthew and Lindsay Headland. Mona was predeceased by her siblings Audrey Howat, Nina Spence, Vera Arseneault and Roy, Bill and Raymond Best. She grew up in Springhill, NS and met Chuck during World War II when she was working in Moncton, NB and he was stationed in the Air Force in Shediac, NB. They married after the war and lived briefly in Belleview, MB before moving to Winnipeg where they spent most of their married lives. Mona spent many years as the manager of the savings department of what was then Canada Permanent. She loved her job and when she left, it took at least two people to replace her. She and Chuck moved to Victoria in 1989 where they enjoyed making a whole new circle of friends. They loved to travel and spent months every year in the car, driving coast to coast in Canada and the U.S. "Loving" is the word that best described Mona. She was a truly loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Even as she struggled with cancer, diabetes and dementia, she never lost the thoughtfulness and graciousness that were so much a part of her and made her such a special person. She was the personification of kindness and her first thought was always for others. She was the first to offer help. The first with a friendly greeting, a welcoming smile or the offer of a "good hot cup of tea". She will be remembered with love and forever missed by anyone who had the privilege of knowing her. A service will be held at a later date in Hamiota, MB. The family would like to thank the staff at Beechwood Court who treated Mona with so much kindness and respect as well as Jackie from SRI who was so wonderful to her these past few weeks. Should anyone wish, donations may be made in Mona's memory to the
or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Canada.
