Allan Somersall Obituary
Allan Calvin Somersall, age 66, of King City, Ontario, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on December 18, 2015. Born to Allan Sr. and Violet Somersall in St. Christopher, West Indies, and predeceased by his brothers, Terry and Morley, Allan is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia, his devoted children, Jeff (Serena) and Lee-Anne and his loving sisters Juliet, Sheila and Jean. He will be greatly missed by aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
After receiving his B.Sc. from University College (London, UK), Ph.D. (Organic Chemistry) and M.D. from the University of Toronto, Allan worked as a professor, physician, author and speaker. Though his academic and business accomplishments were many, the most important aspect of Allan's life was his devotion to his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, which was reflected in the positive influence he had on many lives across the globe.
Visitation will be held at Glen Oaks Funeral Home (3164 Ninth Line, Oakville) on Wednesday, January 6th and Thursday, January 7th from 5-8 p.m. A service of thanksgiving and celebration of Allan's life will be held at Hammerson Hall, Living Arts Centre (4141 Living Arts Drive, Mississauga) on Friday, January 8th at 10 a.m.

I have very fond memories of Allan from his many visits to our home and cottage when he was working and studying with my father, Dr. James Guillet, at the University of Toronto. We were all energized and uplifted by his positive presence and dynamic character. I am sending my deep condolences and prayers for the family at this time of loss.

It brings great sadness to hear of Dr. Allan Somersall passing.
Always seen him with a smile and he treated my family very well. He expressed himself with a very sharp and vibrant tone, always had a very clear way of explaining things. He was the best eye Doctor I have ever known. The care he gave to us all was appreciated, he will be missed. Rest in peace.

My prayers and thoughts are with the Somersall family during this time. In addition to Dr. Somersall being a good friend of my family, I valued his work as a practitioner and appreciated his words of advice and encouragement in some of my career decisions. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy will continue, both through his professional and spiritual investment here on earth.

Allan Somersall was an uncle to me though not blood. Whenever we met, he left me feeling better about myself than before our encounter. At Jeff and Serena's wedding he told me you're never too old to try something new. "In chasing a new endeavour at least open the door, then you can decide whether or not you want to walk through it." I've always kept this advice close to my heart. Love and prayers to all the family. We'll miss Uncle Allan and his physical presence on earth but know he's in a much better place with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
