Our condolences to all the family. Your mother was a beautiful person and will be remembered by all the students who passed through her very capable hands while learning much more than how to be a graceful student of ballet. She will be missed.

Mrs Giggs was my ballet teacher from the age of 3 (in Mississauga) and I was in and out of her ballet studio (later at Mooredale House) until around age 15. She had a HUGE impact on my life in so many ways. Still a performer, I use her ballet training every day, of course. But more than that, it was her grace, her keen eye, her sharp wit, and her even sharper sense of humour that I remember. As a young girl, I was amazed by the strength of her body while dancing while her hands stayed so light! Symbolic. Her oft heard "GIRLS! We must be kind to one another!!" is repeated often in my house with a tinge of her lovely accent;) with my kids and as I teach my performance classes. I remember her saying "ballerinas don't bite their nails" to me....kindly but firmly. More than about my nails, it was a call to action to stand tall and find my inner strength. Oh, did we all want to please her! After a setback as a dancer I remember coming a little sheepishly back to her class....she looked at me for a long beat with a warm but firm look on her face and merely said "to the barre please Krista" (as her son and now friend Jonathan began to beautifully play the piano!). A life lesson to be sure. Let's know that it happened, not wallow in it, let's just get on with it. She was a mentor and is with me every day. I will miss knowing she is in the world but I am so glad I knew her and she was my teacher. A teacher in the truest sense. I love you "Mrs Giggs". My little 4 year old girl now dances in your legacy. And I will always remind her "we must be kind to one another". A reminder we could all use.

So sorry to the Giggs family for your huge loss. Sending much love.
