I felt deep sorrow at the sad news of my friend Roland's passing. For many years we were colleagues in the League of Human Rights. Roland was a pioneer in interfaith dialogue, clarifying the rules and often devising them that made it possible for Christians and Jews, as well as for members of other faith communities to engage freely and comfortably in discussing their differences and improving mutual relations. H
He was a loyal friend and wonderful companion. My sympathy and prayer for comfort are extended to his family.

Roland, my closest friend of more than 46 years, you assisted me in coming to Canada and welcomed me into your family, you guided me and shaped me throughout the years, you have been my mentor, my educator, my strength, my rock. You have my admiration for what you stood for in bringing Christians and Jews together and inviting me to work with you in this field. You have my admiration for what you fought for in your pursuit of human rights for all. You always spoke with much conviction and your actions commanded attention. You touched so many lives in an impactful and meaningful way. You introduced me to Poodles, which led to my lifelong interest and passion in the showing and breeding of these fascinating creatures. Roland, you have my eternal gratitude. I shall miss you desperately, dear friend.

We were saddened to hear of Roland's passing. Although we knew him for only a relatively short time, we have such fond memories of lively discussions over extremely long Canada Day lunches! We so enjoyed his company, and he and Julie became a very special part of our lives. He will be remembered with fondness by so many.

I extend my sincere condolences to Roland de Corneille's family in this difficult time. Although I have not seen Rev. de Corneille in many years, I clearly remember his time as MP for Eglinton-Lawrence, from 1979 to 1988.
