JULIA RYBACKI Obituary

JULIA KRYSTYNA RYBACKI (nee DLUGA) December 18, 1927 - August 5, 2013 It is with profound sadness that we announce that our beloved Mom and Baba passed away peacefully in Mississauga on Monday, August 5, 2013 at the age of 85. Predeceased by her beloved husband Frank to whom she was happily married to for 51 years. Dearest, loving mother of Teresa (Richard Anisko) and Edward (Tracy) Rybacki. Extremely proud Baba of Julianna (Brendan Clutton), Stephanie (Geoff MCCallum), Damian (Julie Dollin), Kristen, Kaitlin and Daniel. Joyous great- grandmother (Pra-Baba) of twins Julian and Breanna. Julia was the kindest, strongest, most generous, hardworking, loving person in the world. She was born in Boberka, Poland (now Ukraine) in 1927 and was so pleased to have 9 brothers and sisters: Gregory, Andrew, Ignace, Mary, John, Mikolaj, Kathy, Peter, Vassily (Basil) and a wonderful extended family. WWII struck in 1939 and the family suffered many hardships. Her beloved mother died young, two brothers were taken to German labour camps, their home burned, they lost everything and Mom was a heroine when she saved her brothers and sisters from the fire, and she herself was separated from her family to forced labour in Rockenhausen, Germany. Mom lost all contact with her family 'til today. She spent four years in the post war British run Polish Transit Camp in Paderborn, Germany. There she met her beloved husband Frank. In 1949 Mom arrived by ship to Halifax, NS to start a new life in Canada who opened its doors to thousands of "Displaced Persons (DPs)". She was forever grateful and loved her adopted country Canada. Mom went to Peterborough, Ontario to fulfill her one year contract to work for the wonderful Smith family. In 1950 she moved to Toronto, married her beloved Franciszek and started her family who she passionately loved until her dying day. She was an avid gardener, amazing cook, baker and hostess, seamstress, dancer, dedicated employee and devoted loving friend. She loved and supported her husband's extended family in Poland for years. She was a woman of strong faith and we all know and believe that she is now joyfully with God, her Father, and her Saviour, Jesus Christ, in heaven along with her beloved departed husband, family and friends. Our entire family would like to thank all of our friends and family for their love, support and concern. Sincere thanks to all staff and physicians who cared for, treated and supported Mom in the Heart Function Clinic, ER, Urgent Care, CCU, Cardiology 2C and D, Pacemaker Clinic, Med 5J, the COPD Medical Clinic of the Trillium Health Partners Mississauga and Queensway sites and the CCAC partners - Red Cross and St. Elizabeth over the years and especially in the last few weeks of mom's amazing life. We are forever grateful! Friends may call at the Turner and Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. W., Etobicoke (between Islington and Kipling Aves.) on Friday, August 9, 2013 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. with prayers at 8 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Stanislaus Kostka Roman Catholic Church, 12 Denison Ave., Toronto, on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 10 a.m. Interment Assumption Cemetery, Mississauga. Lunch reception to follow at The Friendly Greek, 5170 Dixie Rd., Mississauga. In lieu of flowers, donations in Julia's name to the Trillium Health Partners Foundation, Mississauga and Queensway sites - Cardiac Health Program would be greatly appreciated. A truly genuine caring woman that warmed our hearts and spirits. She travelled across the Atlantic with my Mother to find a better life. She did, knowing her loving family. Her physical presence will be missed greatly, but her spiritual presence will join my Mother and never be forgotten. Alan Baudner

Julia was my dear grandmother whom we fondly called "Baba." When our hearts feel so broken, it gives us solace to think of her having a great party in heaven with those who have departed before her. We love her dearly! Thank you to my mother Teresa for writing such a beautiful obituary! xo
