DON (DONALD DOMENIC) SBROLLA, 77 Don Sbrolla, B.Sc., P.Eng., MBA, son of the late John and Frances (Ponzi) and step- mother Assunta (Fracassa) Sbrolla, died peacefully at Toronto Western Hospital on March 8, 2013. Don has been in the hospital since early November, slowly deteriorating from heart failure, vigilantly cared for by his loving family and many friends. Don graduated in engineering from Assumption University in 1961 and received his Master's degree at MCMaster University in 1964. He worked for Bell and Univac and taught at Humber College, MCMaster University and Ryerson, where an award was made in his name as an outstanding teacher. Sat on the Executive of the Humber Chapter of the Professional Engineers of Ontario, including being Chairman. He had his own personnel agency and consulting business. Member for many years of the Toronto Cricket, Skating and Curling Club where he played squash and tennis and the Royal Canadian Yacht Club where he and his family sailed. Don will be greatly missed by his wife of 53 years, Cathy/Taffy (Pillo) and their children: John (Barb), Rose Marie Braden, James (Ann Tavares), Susan Kelly (Scott) and Elizabeth Knox (Ryan) and grandchildren: Michael, Janna, Julian, Nicholas and Suzanne Sbrolla; Max, Jake, Teddy and Michael Braden; Rosie and Jack Sbrolla; Alex, Emma and Hope Kelly; Ruari and Sloane Knox; and his sister June Scandiffio (Michael) and their children and grandchildren as well as extended family in Canada and in Italy. Don was born June 18, 1935. Courageous and determined, his life was full of much love, joy and laughter. Athlete, professional engineer, businessman, teacher, advocate of speed reading, time management and always putting family first, juggler, magician, April Fool's prankster but most of all a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.
