Shelagh Gordon Obituary

SHELAGH GORDON Our world is a smaller place today without our Shelagh, who left us suddenly on Monday, February 13, 2012. Our rock, our good deed doer, our tradition keeper, our moral compass. Beloved daughter of Susan Gordon and the late David Gordon, sister to Heather, Cynthia and Susan. Loving aunt and mother to Jessica (Christian), Caitlin, Evan (Emma), Matthew, Lucy and Sophie. Sister-in-law of Jay, Mark and Dave. Dog Mom to Jerzy and Cari. Special friend to Andy and Ellen. Shelagh will live on in the memories of her large and loving community of family and friends. A memorial service to celebrate Shelagh's life will be held at the MOUNT PLEASANT CEMETERY VISITATION CENTRE, 375 Mt. Pleasant Road, Toronto (east gate entrance, north of St. Clair Ave., 416-485-5572), on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 1:30 p.m., with a reception to follow on site. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, please make a donation to the animal welfare charity of your choice. "And I feel above me the day - blind stars waiting for their light, for a time, I rest in the grace of the world and I am free."

When I heard Shelagh's story on WBUR, I stopped, re-ran the story to let it sink in. A brief embodiment of Grace in the world. I read the Forbes article, then the original obituary. Your story made me want to aspire to be more like you. I hope your example inspires multitudes to more meaningful New Year resolutions. Thank you for having lived, and thank you to all who shared and propagated your story.

I wasn't blessed to know Shelagh in life, but touched by her story in The Star. She was an amazing soul. I am sending so much love and light to those feeling her absence now. Keep her spirit alive through your love.

This story reminded me of who I truly strive to be and that I am still living, breathing, and able to make a difference. It als reminds me that you should never take that "time" for granted...

I have never met Shelagh but through Montreal obituaries I linked to the article written about her. What a huge loss for the World not to have her in it any longer. If we all lived like Shelagh did, what a wonderful place we would live in. So very sorry for your loss.

Shelagh is one of the most beautiful people in the world. She was always warm, helpful, genuine, supportive and kind. A pure soul she is.
We have shared so much in the past 7 years - through ups and downs, fun and pain at work and in life. She was very knowledgeable, professional and passionate about her career. Often we shared our vision, ideas and opinion on many things around us.
Both Shelagh and i love animals, specially our doggies. I remember how heart-broken she was when she lost Kerri. After a few years, she got herself a new friend and named him Jerzey, the goofy boy. We can never express enough how much our buddies mean to us and how happy they make us. Who can i talk with from now on?
I have been missing Shelagh dearly everyday since her passing. She comes into my dreams every now and then, smiling but never talks. I wonder what that means. Some friends say that's the way she says goodbye. I try to hang in there but it's so hard. Hope i can find strength and comfort someday...
I love you, Shelagh.
Friends forever.
Missing you loads,
Daphne

I saw Shelagh at two farmers' markets. In Gravenhurst she was helping Heather and they were right beside me. We were busy with our customers and didn't talk much but I remember her face and her smile; and she was, as the Moores have said, a bright light, and she will be missed, even by those who only briefly knew her.
