ALEX BURLACOFF Passed away peacefully, surrounded by family in his final days, at the Veterans Wing of Sunnybrook Hospital on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at age 88. Devoted husband of Steffie for 62 beautiful years, Alex lead a full and blessed life. Much loved and adored father of Susan (Ken), Gary, Brian (Lisa), and Sharon (Mark). Proud grandfather, affectionately known as "Alya", to Aaron, Noah, Christian and Daniel. We are forever grateful to Cesar for caring for Alex with such patience, love and compassion during his lengthy illness. A special thank you to Alex's team of caregivers at Sunnybrook for their dedication, and for preserving his dignity and grace. Alex arrived in Canada at age fourteen and five years later, after becoming a Canadian citizen, enlisted in active service with the Queen's Own Rifles Regiment in WWII. He joined the Mutual Life Assurance Company of Canada in 1960 and served his clients faithfully for over 50 years. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Dorothy Macham Home c/o Sunnybrook Foundation.
