BERIS WALKER ERWOOD (nee SMITH) It is with great sadness that our family announces the peaceful passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother on Wednesday, September 15, 2010. Beris was deeply loved by her husband Alan and children Ian his wife Theresa, Janet her husband Andy, Peter his wife Marie-Louise, Bruce his wife Melissa and Beric his wife Patti. Grandma was adored by all eleven grandchildren Adam, Matthew, Nicole, Stuart, Ivy, James, Charles, Austin, Alana, Hunter and Sydney. Beris was born in Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia, grew up in Gladstone, Australia and trained as a nurse. She moved to Brisbane, Australia and met Alan while working at the Women's Hospital. They immigrated to Canada in 1958 and settled in Toronto in 1960. Here they raised 5 wonderful children while helping and supporting countless people in their community. She was a true friend, counsellor and mentor to all that knew her. The family would like to thank the staff of 3W, Oncology Palliative Care unit at North York General Hospital for their support. Funeral services will be held at M.W. Becker Funeral Home, 490 The Queensway South, Keswick, ON L4P 2E3 on Saturday, September 18th at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will also take place at M.W. Becker Funeral Home on Thursday, September 16th from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and on Friday September 17th from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. If desired, a donation to Lake Simcoe Conservation Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family in lieu of flowers. mwbeckerfuneralhome.com
