BERT W. ALLEN With great sadness the family announces the passing of Bert W. Allen on Monday, December 17, 2012 in Toronto. Deeply loved and sadly missed by his daughter Barbara and his son-in-law Brian. He was born near Culloden, Ontario on his parent's farm. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in April 1941 and became an Officer stationed in England during WWII. Upon his return he attended Queens University, graduating in 1952 with a BSc in Civil Engineering. He married his wife Phyllis Ball in 1953 and together they lived in Halifax and Ottawa before making Toronto their home for over 40 years. His passion in life was his family and travelling with Phyllis. His many interests included astronomy, amateur radio, and painting. Interment took place in the Family Plot at Delmer Cemetery with military honours accompaniment provided by Officers of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 153, Tillsonburg. The Verhoeve Funeral Home, 262 Broadway Street, Tillsonburg 519-842-4238 was entrusted with arrangements. Memorial donations are payable (by cheque) to the "Heart & Stroke Foundation" and will be gratefully acknowledged by the Allen family.
