Dear Jeannine
I just heard a few minutes ago. I wrote Billy many years ago to express to him how grateful I have always been to have known him. He was one of my heroes. Having someone like him believe in me and coach me not only in hockey but in life made me a better person.
I sit here ay my computer in Stratford with so many memories of him flooding back to me.

We wish to offer our most sincere and heartfelt condolences to the immediate family, friends and associates of BILLY COLVIN upon his departure from the scene ...

He played the Canadian game of ice hockey at a time when these fine amateur athletes were king and many of their performances were superlative to much which came after ...

The entire 1955-1956 Kitchener - Waterloo Dutchmen Hockey Club were top players who really pulled together to make the supreme effort in the 1956 Olumpics in Italy where they most successfully came away with the Bronze Medal but might very well have been Gold or Silver medal winners, also ...

The name of BILLY COLVIN now lives forever more in the hearts and minds of those who knew and appreciated those great competitive days of our early youth.

I write this thought about Bill from Abu Dhabi in the UAE where I have worked as a physician for some time. I played for Bill on the Queen's Golden Gaels back in the mid 60's when he somehow found the time to coach that gritty team of which he was the heart and soul.
Though I had not seen Bill for over 40 years I thought of him often .
He was that kind of man - I wish I had the chance to tell him now.
My sincere condolences to his family.
With respect

Jeannine:: You and Bill changed my life by accepting and welcoming me into your family, and encouraging me in my career and, eventually, in raising my own family. You were my role models. I cherish the friendship I had with Bill and our heavy discussions of hockey and life. I will miss him terribly. My condolences to you and the entire family. Every time I've ever been with one of your sons, I've seen Bill and you in them, and I'm glad that will continue.
