Clifford Solway Obituary

SOLWAY, Clifford - Writer, TV and film producer, died at age 83 on August 3, 2009. He is survived by his brother Jack, 93, nephews Jeff, Ken, Lee and David; nieces Nancy, Amy and Judy; their families; and his very close friend Antoinette. Cliff was one of the small crew that started CBC Television in Toronto in the fifties. He rose to become its foremost public affairs producer-director, with his shows "Fighting Words" and "Background", before he moved on to LA and New York. An open house to celebrate Cliff's life will be held at 23 Marchmount Rd., Toronto, 2-5 p.m. on Thursday, August 13.

I was saddened to learn of Cliff's death. We were childhood friends from our days on Madison Avenue and Kendall Park in Toronto through our adult years in New York City. My wife Shirey and our children fondly recall his visits to our New Rochelle home.
