HEUFF, Dirk - Beloved husband of Judy and father to Liidia, Rick, Jennifer and Robert passed peacefully on November 15, 2012. Dirk brought light and laughter to everyone, especially his adored grandchildren Nathan and Skylar. Born in the Netherlands in 1927, Dirk was 13 when his small town of Wadenoyen, Gelderland was occupied. Growing up during WW II gave him a deep appreciation for civil liberties and a strong dislike for hypocrisy and the blind adherence to authority. He loved comedy, art, architecture and poetry. He also loved spinning tall tales especially those that touched on the absurd. Following the war, he travelled to Indonesia, Borneo and Sumatra. He settled in Canada to work for Northern Electric on projects including the Dew Line defense system. His love of architecture led him into real estate which he practiced as a broker for 25 years. When his wife Judy became ill, he lovingly cared for her. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend and raconteur. He will be deeply missed. Warm thanks to Carmen Bartley, Tina Robeznieks and the Belmont staff for their compassionate care. Memorial services to be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery Visitation Center, 375 Mount Pleasant Rd. on November 23rd at 6 p.m.
