MAJOR, Doran Oliver - May 20, 1961 - June 11, 2012 We Have lost a Warrior Doran Major was born in Honolulu, Hawaii May 20, 1961 to William Victor Major affectionaly known as 'The Bull' and his lovely wife Josephine Major affectionaly known as 'Spenny' Doran's final days were spent surrounded by his loving family. Doran considered everyone that touched his life as family. Doran is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Davinder; Phenominal daughters India and Sydney Major. Doran could accomplish anything he set his mind to do. At a very young age Doran found his first love, sports. The football field is where Doran was most at home. He attended Biloxi High and then walked on to Memphis State University and made the team. His path then took him to play for The Memphis Showboats and then onto Philadelphia Eagles. His final football stop would be with The Toronto Argonauts where he spent five years with his Warrior brothers. Doran is also survived by his brother Victor (Yvette) Chicago, IL; uncle Robert (Grace) Major, Columbus, OH; aunts Marlene (John) Pagett, Coschocton, OH, Eleanor (Joseph) Johnson, Lewis Center, OH, Mary (Michael) Jack, New York, NY, Joe and Jean Elmore, Columbus, OH. Francis Ward, Newark, OH. And many cousins. Parents-in-law Jim and Gay Fowler, brother and Sister-in-law John and Ale Barry. Special sister Karen Reid. Many supportive friends too many to mention but you all know who you are. Profound thanks to The Palliative staff of Mount Sinai especially Nurse Margaret Jackson and Dr. Russel Goldman for your loving care. The family will receive friends at Grant Church African Methodist Episcopal, 2029 Gerrard St. E., Toronto, ON M4E 2B3, on Saturday, June 16, 2012 from 11 a.m. until time of Service at 12 p.m. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to: Giffen-Mack Funeral Home, 2570 Danforth Avenue, Toronto, ON M4C-1L3 In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Doran's name to Max and Beatrice Wolfe Children's Centre and Dr. Jay Children's Grief Program.
