RYCROFT, Eleanor May (nee Gouldburn) - Passed peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Friday, November 16, 2012, with family at her side. Beloved by all who knew her, Eleanor was born August 12, 1923 in Whitby, second child of Ellen and Martin Gouldburn. She is survived by her dear sister Catherine (Bill) Millions of Timmins and predeceased by siblings Nora (Jim) Scollard, George (Marg) Gouldburn and Allan Gouldburn. Married for 66 years to Charles B. Rycroft and lifelong resident of Whitby, Ontario, Eleanor leaves her children Sandra (Clare) Metselaar, John (Mary) Rycroft and Donald (Kathy) Rycroft, grandchildren Juliana (Scott) Cline, Jennifer Rycroft and her husband Mark Kowgier, Lindsay Rycroft and Matthew Rycroft, great-grandson, Marshall Charles Cline and many nieces and nephews. Three weeks ago Eleanor, with her husband, was honoured with the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal, presented to her for a lifetime of giving to her community. Eleanor was instrumental in setting up Community Care in Whitby. Through more than sixty years of guild membership at All Saints Anglican Church she gave unstintingly of her time and energy. She delivered Meals on Wheels and enjoyed many happy hours volunteering at Fairview Lodge. Cremation has taken place. A private family interment is planned. Friends are welcome to visit at W. C.
