Eric was born September 9, 1925 in Regen, a small town in central Transylvania to Elsa (nee Lurtz) and father Stefan. Educated at Lutheran Primary and Junior High school. Eric was sent to a boarding school out of town and graduated in commerce in 1944. In September of the same year the family fled before the advancing Russian Army. After a long trek, the family made it to upper Austria. In Linz, Eric worked for the U.S. Army exchange as warehouse manager. There Eric met his future wife Eva. In the fall of 1951 he immigrated to Canada and ended up in Toronto. Eva followed a year later and they got married in 1953. In Toronto Eric worked for a number of corporations and was hired in 1957 by Canadian Pittsburgh Industries as branch accounting clerk. He rose to office manager and transferred to head office as senior auditor and retired in 1990 as manager of Administration. Eric was a member of the Jaycees, the Administrative Management Society and Probus Club of Oakville. Eric's hobbies were skiing, lawnbowling and tennis. Eric took graduate courses in political philosophy at York University and was a voracious reader of periodicals and books and was very much interested in the political mosaic of Canada and the world. Eric also leaves behind his two pets Micki and Maxi. Private family arrangements have been made. Donations in memory of Eric to the would be greatly appreciated. If tears could build a stairway And memories a lane I would walk right up to heaven And bring you home again.
